I have now been an
activist for most of my life. I will be 62 this year, and have been an
activist of one kind or another for about 40 of those years. My friend
Wavy Gravy refers to himself, these days, as a "temple of accumulated
error." I can well resonate with that description.
In all this time, The primary question which has motivated and inspired
my work these last years is: What can I do, by myself or working with
others, that would make a difference as to whether or not humanity will
survive on this planet of ours?
Along the way I:
- organized the first demonstration on the west coast against the war
in Vietnam
- started the War Resisters League West
- was a manager of the Grateful Dead
- have been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga for over 30 years
- have been Western Regional Director for 3HO Foundation & Sikh Dharma
- coordinated numerous Meeting of the Ways Conferences
- started Creating Our Future
- founded Rainforest Products
These
days I live in an Ashram in East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area), lead yoga
workshops both here and where invited, conduct an annual Kundalini Yoga
Teachers Training Course, continue to be involved with Rainforest Products.
I am working with Ram Dass and others, through Creating Our Future, on
one of my primary concerns, the relationship between inner peace and world
peace, particularly the critical role of spiritual practice in the evolution
of human consciousness.
